Tips for Calm Coloring

  • Use 24 lb paper for markers

Standard 20 lb copy paper works well for crayons. If your child uses washable markers, step up to 24 lb paper so ink does not bleed onto the kitchen table.

  • Made for ages 4 to 8 (not tiny mandalas)

If your child wants intricate adult mandalas with 500 tiny spaces, skip these. Every page uses wide shapes and 4.5 pt lines so young hands finish in 15 to 20 minutes without frustration.

  • Turn one sheet into a 20-minute story

Ask who lives in the stone castle or what the sheep is looking at before picking the first crayon. One quick question keeps kids engaged twice as long.
